Over the weekend I finished a watercolor painting I've been working on for a while. For your viewing pleasure (one hopes):


Now I just need to keep working on The Fountain. I think it will not be nearly as long a project as the previous card, thankfully.

Thanks! Balancing the color was definitely the hardest part of this one. I think the color looks a little better in person--my scanner loses some of the subtleties.

I'm not a skilled watercolorist by any means (I only mess around with them and am a novice at art in general), but I have attempted to scan watercolor and I feel you so hard. :p

I think it's the semi-opacity of the medium; the bright light from the scanner goes through it in weird ways. I have heard people swear that photography is the only good way to digitize watercolor, but I am pretty sure if I tried to get the necessary equipment and try that it would be an unmitigated disaster. Maybe someday. :-/
