korafoxWe haven't been watching much hockey this year, only a handful of games during the regular season. Largely this is because I knew that having Blackhawks games on would just put me into an incoherent rage. I was right about that, for the record. I'm mostly hate-watching the current Blues-Hawks series, and anyone who has heard me spitting epithets at the Blues in the past few seasons would know why.
However, it is still a no-brainer for me to cheer for the Blues in this case, even if they did my hometown an actual, tangible harm, because if they can knock the Hawks out it will be a small (if insufficient) justice by keeping the Hawks from a championship after they threw a rape victim under the bus in favor of their star player.
Every time I see him on the ice I want to throw things. The camera at the rink showed a close-up of a female fan wearing his jersey, and I just can't understand how anyone could, let alone someone who belongs to the gender that he and the team have so very clearly decided is not worth as much as someone's athletic ability.
The Blues can get swept next round, but right now they need to WIN.
(I will take it as a minute sign of the universe trying to course-correct that a four-minute high sticking penalty by the player in question gave the Blues the go-ahead goal to win today's game.)
