I honestly don't think I can get behind this announcement that The Hobbit movie adaptation is going to end up being a trilogy. Can the story really support three films without just getting a whole heck of a lot weightier than the book ever did? I saw the trailer at the theater the other day and it looks like they're heading in that direction, anyways. I suppose I should just give in now and accept that the movie version is going to take a different approach from the book. But I just don't know if this story can hold up to the epic-ness that was LotR if it tries to hit the same notes. (Plus, we've already seen the grand vision that was LotR and I'm not sure I want to sit through nine more hours of that, particularly with Bilbo at the helm of the story.)
I'm sure they will get my admission money, at least for the first installment. Beyond that, we shall see.
