So that I have a digital copy of it, I think I'm going to post my mission reports from the current roleplaying game up here.
(I know, haven't posted in nearly a year. Whatever--not going to apologize for it since pretty much no one reads this anyway at this point ^^;)

I never expected a call from Admin so soon after the last mission. Was dreading it, perhaps. But with the injuries we all walked away with the other day--well, most of us walked away--it seemed like we wouldn't be called up for a good long while.

But the situation was an emergency, and it came out of some loose ends from our last mission. Somehow Lenny had gotten wind that there were uratha in the city, and had stolen proof of their existence--a klaive. It kept him off the grid, so it was our job to track him down. And take him out, if necessary, to protect the secret.

With not much to go on, the four of us who had been called in decided to split up and see what leads we could find. Dex and CT headed off to the police precinct, to see if any of their contacts with the police had news of Lenny. I get the feeling Darren didn't want to walk into the middle of a precinct, either, so the two of us went to check out Lenny's apartment.

The first time we met Lenny Rodriguez, he struck me as a real low-life. After seeing his apartment, I'd probably add "sleaze" to that description. Mood lighting, disco ball...well, I can't say much for his decor, but the apartment was well protected. There were runes all along the inside of the door frame, and as we found out later, we were tripping all sorts of alarms as we went through the place.

Found some interesting papers among Lenny's things; in one drawer were notes of acknowledgement for information rendered. Of course there were several from the Coven; we also saw one from the CEO of Draco Company. The real find was on his answering machine. A man's voice directed him to the Gorgon's Eye, where he would get his "chance". We phoned up Dex and agreed to meet outside the club.

But first, there was one more room we had yet to examine. In retrospect, we should have realized that when a door is locked without so much as a keyhole, there is never anything pleasant behind it. Darren broke down the door, and inside we found a room foul with tortured corpses. I suppose we all should be prepared for the sort of thing that happened next, though reanimated corpses are a new one for me. I pulled my gun and took out one of them, but Darren seemed to be losing control of himself. Thankfully after the other one went down he started to calm down, though. I don't appreciate having chairs thrown at my head, and it would have been highly inconvenient to knock him out for the duration.

Unfortunately, just as things were calming down, the situation went right from the frying pan into the fire. Literally.

The locked room suddenly burst into flames, and by the time we could react it reached the intensity of an inferno. Panicking, I tried to shut the door to the room but the flames sparked a sort of chain reaction with my own ability. By the time I got myself under control, the whole apartment was going up in flames. It was time to leave.

There was nothing more to accomplish here, so we went to rendezvous with Dex and CT. She remembered that this was the same establishment from which she had been apprehended, so we were prepared for trouble. But though we didn't seem particularly welcome, the rules of the club would keep anyone from jumping us. Didn't stop CT from almost starting a fight, of course.

Lenny was here, and in bad shape. Looked like he'd been drinking and abusing various other substances, and he had the klaive with him. Big, big sword. We started the easy way, tried to persuade him he'd have a better chance of surviving all of this if he came with us now. But he wasn't having any of it, and by this point two of his Coven friends had shown up. Things escalated, and we were forcibly ejected from the club by the proprietress. At this point it was all we could do to hold off the vampires until backup showed.

Lenny had somehow avoided the boot when we were all forced to leave, and we learned from the Prioress that he had gone out the back way. His trail was easy to follow until we got to a taxi stop, at which point we had nothing to go on.

Is that taxi driver who's always shuffling us around on our payroll? Because he certainly has some good information. We learned that Lenny had made for the South side. Dex knew someone there who had a good ear to the ground, so we made that our next stop.

Doc was an interesting character. I can sympathize with his struggle to keep the kids in the gangs patched up and alive, but I didn't care much for his personality. He'd had a bunch of people come in that night, ripped up and burnt by a man with a giant sword. From what we'd heard of Lenny's past, it was undoubtedly a massacre motivated from revenge. We got one final clue from the gang members: before he went tearing off, he uttered the name Darius.

We got Clerical and Mysteries to do some digging, and found out Darius was the cleaner who had taken out Lenny's partner and a whole mess of his cop buddies right before he became a thrall. With an address in hand, we went to intercept Lenny at the vampire's home. The house was quiet when we arrived, so we decided to stake it out and wait for Lenny to show. Admin sent along some backup, and it was right about then that the upper floor of the house lit up and spirits started pouring out the windows. Our backup told us to find a gateway in the house, to keep Lenny away from it. Then she jumped up to the upper level.

We had to make do with the front door. Darren got us through, but collapsed into unconsciousness. We would later find out that his mind had been snatched away and stuffed into a nearby statuette. Some Providence directed us to grab that statue on the way through; Darren might never have woken up otherwise.

The three of us still on our feet headed for the basement, perhaps on some hunch that cryptic, occult forces tend to turn up there. We found a few dobermanns, which were quickly dispatched after they attacked us, and a door that led nowhere. There was only a concrete wall behind it.

There was a noise behind us, and we turned to find Lenny wielding the sword and looking extremely violent. We took no delay in opening fire, and managed to drop him. But the sword glowed blue, and seemed to possess the body. It got up again and continued to attack us, using energy pulses and spirits which came shooting out of the blade. As well, the blue glow swallowed about half our shots without damage.

This went on. I don't know where our backup got to, but we would have appreciated the help. Finally the fight was interrupted by the appearance of an uratha, the one who had been the leader of those we met on our first mission with Lieutenant Rider. He reclaimed the sword, and Lenny ceased to be a threat. But though Lenny was dead, there was still another threat in the house. Darius appeared and remarked that his masters would find news of the uratha very interesting indeed, then escaped through the previously blocked doorway before anyone could stop him.

The uratha was pissed. I heard Darren's voice in my head, saying to get out, but I didn't need the advice to know I should run. CT made it up the stairs and out, but I was carrying Dex and stumbled on the way. I remember feeling the sword slice into me, and then I blacked out.

Woke up later at a safehouse; only Darren was there with me. Heard his voice saying that he was in the statue, and through a bit of trial-and-error got him back in his head. But some strange sights--or memories?--passed through my mind as I did so, memories of Darren with a gang, getting torn up by some unspeakable tentacled horror. The guy didn't seem right even after he woke up, too. Couldn't remember his name and seemed pretty disoriented. Don't know if we have a department that does psych. evaluations, but I'd probably recommend it after all the things that were messing with his head this time out.

Not much to say after that. Got a lot of recovering to do.
