So I am finally doing something about my paltry one-and-a-half languages. Working on getting back to where I was with Japanese, and learning Latin on the side...this will be an interesting journey. Especially since this will really be the first time I've applied myself independently to any language study...and there is so much to remember before the proficiency exam at the start of December. Well, I'll not lack for resources at least. I have two textbooks, a dictionary, two workbooks for the exam, and whatever my courage can summon to ask of Wilson-sensei. The Latin shall be harder, as I've discovered that our library is severely inadequate...we've only one book that I've found for a beginning student and it was written in 1928..! And in any case I do not learn well under the sort path they've constructed....it starts with rote memorization before it explains the foundations. Luckily, I've found a better book that I've borrowed from another library (1998!). The first lesson was on conjugation, and then they introduced a few verbs to practice on.

Well, I shall go through a few more pages of this workbook before I go to sleep for the night. Back to work again tomorrow...but at least there are only two weeks left. And I shall see Feifei and Driscoll on Thursday! It will be a pleasant thing to look forward to.
