Jul. 25th, 2008 08:47 pmSo after a good three hours of sleep, headed up to Rosemont today for Pre-departure orientation. Heard a whole bunch of procedural information and now I'm mostly worried about sleeping through the alarm and the shuttle tomorrow. We have to start loading stuff around 7:30 and there'll be something like a three-hour span of time between arrival at O'Hare and takeoff. I can't remember if I've ever been in O'Hare, and if I have I certainly don't remember it. I'm sure it'll be pure craziness.
Found out what Austin (the guy with madcrazy skills who coordinates all the Chicago JET affairs) actually looks like in person and I still cannot get over how much he looks like a young Stephen Colbert.
A JET alumnus named Mark Vaccaro gave us something like a pep talk. He works for the Chicago police academy and said we could use the same approach in teaching and being professional as new officers--i.e., fake it until you figure it out. ;)
And for anyone who's keeping track of these sorts of things, at the reception dinner I was seated at table number 17. No joke.
Off to Japan tomorrow~
